Our summer programmes are an exciting and effective way for you to improve your English while living and studying in one of the world’s most famous, stimulating, and beautiful cities.
If you choose the Senior Intensive course, you will have 25 hours of lessons, both in the morning and afternoon, as well as twice activities per week.
In the Mornings
Beginning at 9:00 a.m., you will have three hours of General English lessons in a group of no more than twelve students. For the first 2 hours we work with a course book to enable you to improve the 4 main skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary. The third hour focuses on practical English and study skills to help you use the English you have learnt.
Our qualified teachers will help you improve your English language skills. During the summer months there is a greater emphasis on interaction and communication in the lessons, which allows short term students to make most of their stay.
In the Afternoons
This course consists of 25 hours of group lessons, as well as cultural activities (twice a week).
All students under the age of 18 are strongly advised to attend a full-time programme (15 hours of morning lessons plus afternoon lessons/activities). Any student under the age of 18 choosing not to attend afternoon activities/lessons must obtain written permission from a parent or guardian.
Study in the University of Oxford
The summer lessons for students aged 15 + normally take place at city centre campus.

I am sorry to hear that the bathrooms were dirty. We rent out Oxford university colleges in peak times and some of them are very old. We do not use Keble College anymore.
With regards to your class level, you are allocated to the class following the results of the online English level test you are asked to do before arriving in Oxford. It may be that you remembered the English grammar point but you were not able to recognise and apply it in the English level test. In the winter months classes were quite small. That gives the teachers the chance to take care of each individual student. To me, CIE was like a family. We spent so much time together (during the lessons as well as after) that I could get to know the teachers and the other students really well. I've been visiting CIE and my host family four times since I've left England and they welcomed me back everytime as if it had been just yesterday when we last met.
The hostfamily that CIE organised for me was beyond anything I could have dreamed of. From the very first day they accepted me as a member of their family and I spent my time there talking to them or playing with their daughter. I could even join their families for Christmas Holidays and felt at the right place all the time.
At CIE I met people from all over the world and everybody was open and interested in the other cultures. I became very good friends with some of the other students that I have met a few times since and we’re planning to visit us some day in our homecountries. The time I spent with all these nice people at CIE opened up my mind and my heart and I hope I can maintain these friendships for a very long time.
