Our Best of Bristol 45+ course is designed to fully immerse you in the local language and culture here in the UK. Over 2 weeks you will study English in small groups (up to 10 people) and enjoy a varied social programme of activities and excursions, exploring the best of our city and beyond with your peers and teachers.
In the morning General English lessons, we focus on practical, effective and natural English. The classes are designed to build on any existing knowlegde you already have, whether you've used English frequently in your working life or haven't studied for a while. Our aim is to help you feel more comfortable communicating in English-speaking situations at home and abroad, and we'll cover topics related to the activities and excursions you go on so you'll be even better equipped to discuss them with your classmates.
After class, you can enjoy a daily afternoon activity and late afternoon/evening activity most nights. On Mondays, a welcome lunch is provided at school before heading out for a walking tour of Bristol's Harbourside or Clifton Village & Suspension Bridge. Throughout the week activities include exploring Bristol's Aerospace Museum, Brunel's SS Great Britain, a harbourside walking tour and boat trip and graffiti tour. You will also get a tour of Britain's oldest working theatre in England - and sample a traditional afternoon tea, and fish and chips! On Fridays, you can take part in our (optional) Conversation Club and practise your English with students on other courses; after this, we'll take you to a local bar for a well-earned Friday drink.
In addition to the programme schedule, we have a variety of optional extra excursions such as wine tasting, brewery tours and a tour of the oldest working theatre in England.
IH Bristol is based in a vibrant, affluent area of Bristol famed for its fine buildings, green open spaces and a wide choice of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars to help you get the best experience of living in England.
Bristol is a friendly, safe city with a rich history as a trading port which is now a centre for creative, financial and high technology industries. With two thriving universities, it is a young and lively place. Big enough to offer great shopping, places to see and lots of cultural entertainment but still small enough to get around easily and not feel lost.
Bristol is also the cultural and commercial centre of the South West of England with its unspoiled countryside, rugged coastline and famous ancient monuments like Stonehenge. Bristol is surrounded by interesting places, such as Cardiff, Bath and Oxford. Even London is only a 90-minute train ride away.

Unite House is a modern, comfortable university residence, in close walking distance of the school. IH Bristol rents 'IH Bristol-only' flats for our students each summer.
